Software Defined Networking (SDN) Project

The objective of this project is to develop a flow controller that monitors, configures, and maintains the safe, reliable network traffic flows of all the local area networks (LANs) on a control system in the energy sector. The research will result in the first solution system operators can use to view and configure geographically dispersed substation networks and provide a method for structuring and maintaining order. Operators will be able to engineer all the virtual circuits on which every communication flow travels, preconfigure response actions to events, monitor communication flows, and react to undesired behavior to keep critical systems operational. The technology will provide operators with a quick visual representation of what is happening.

Investigators include Rakesh Bobba, William H. Sanders, David M. Nicol, and Roy H. Campbell.
